SLWSC Hosts MEI at Lifuwu Water Treatment Plant
On Friday, 29th August 2025, the Salima Lilongwe Water Supply Company (SLWSC) had the honor of hosting distinguished members of the Malawi Engineering Institution (MEI) at the Lifuwu Water Treatment Plant (WTP) construction site in Salima
The delegation was warmly received by our Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Valentine Kaupa, who led a guided tour of the facility and provided updates on the progress achieved across all project construction sites since works commenced in January 2025
Speaking to the media during the visit, Eng. Kaupa expressed satisfaction with the current pace of implementation
“The project is progressing well, and we remain committed to delivering on schedule and to the highest standards. This initiative will have a significant impact on improving water security for Salima, Dowa, Lilongwe, and the surrounding areas.” He said
On his part, Eng. Wengawenga, speaking on behalf of MEI, underscored the significance of the project to Malawi’s engineering sector
“This is one of the major projects in the country, and as engineers, we are very interested in what is happening here. It is the first of its kind in Malawi, and we are keen to learn from the experts involved. We have also sent interns here to benefit from knowledge transfer.”
The MEI delegation was in Salima for their Annual Conference, held under the theme: “Leadership in Engineering: Breaking Barriers and Empowering Change.”
