The visit provided members with a practical case study aligned to the meeting’s theme and sub-themes. Members of the Consultative Group toured the Lifuwu Water Treatment Plant works, identified by the Organizing Committee as a strategic and relevant project site within Salima District.
The site visit was designed to provide a first-hand appreciation of; Project implementation challenges and opportunities, Engineering and technical solutions adopted, Quality assurance measures, Infrastructure resilience considerations and Sustainability principles embedded in the project.
During the briefing, representatives from the SPV outlined the journey of the Salima–Lilongwe Water Supply Project, detailing how complex engineering requirements, environmental considerations, and operational sustainability have been integrated to ensure long-term service delivery.
The Lifuwu Pump Station serves as a critical component of the overall project, playing a pivotal role in abstracting and transmitting water to support Salima, Dowa, Lilongwe and surrounding areas. Members engaged in interactive discussions on construction methodologies, materials management, compliance standards, and the incorporation of durable infrastructure systems capable of withstanding long-term operational pressures.
